At the reunion in July @sarahpage asked me if I remembered visiting her on her Dad’s boat. I did and I found a picture of me on the boat in my mom’s postcards from Wales pictures. I also noticed a picture in @ruthdineen‘s awesome slide show. The two are together below. But I don’t remember who went on that trip with me? Jog my memory if you do! ? 😆
With Sarah’s input, I remember when it was now. It was the summer Tim @milligan & I (and someone else?) hitched up to Scotland and John O’Groats. Also known as the tent invasion of the Heilan Coo (Scottish Highland Cow). Imagine the beast below sticking its head in your tent first thing in the morning. 😆
Looks like @mike-griffin to me.
Yes. That’s me. But I think there were some others who went on that trip with me. But I don’t recall who. Maybe I went on my own? ? ?
There were two others with you but, like you, I can’t be sure who they were. I know you were definitely there because of the photo, and I can remember the visit. We were living in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight and the three of you arrived out of the blue during the summer holiday. My parents were very happy to see you all and you stayed for a couple of days or so, I think. During this time you were roped in (literally?) to help on the boat in Yarmouth (IoW) harbour. Health and safety was still a distant concept in those days as one of you was cheerfully volunteered to go up the mast in the bosuns chair! So if anyone reads this and remembers being there, it would be great to hear from you (mind you, it was the 60s, so no pressure!!)
Aha! That was the summer of the tent invasion by the Heilan Coo , Scottish Highland Cow! So I’m sure that it was @milligan with me for one!
Was it Mike, Tom Torrence and me en route to Spain? Know we took the boat from Southampton but rest is a bit foggy. Have a vague memory of a bosun’s chair but might not be that one!
